In this story, Isabelle reflects on visiting the beach this past December (2017), and how it reminded her of a stranger who came to her aid on the beach the first time. A stranger who bore it all (and nothing at all) to help get Isabelle and Jim off the beach and into the ambulance.
This time, Joe shares the story of the accident from his perspective. The perspective where he stayed at school and didn't see Jim until weeks after the accident. He talks about the emotions he went through, and fears what may have happened had Jim's accident turned out differently. These are hard emotions to face, and even harder to put into words. Joe does an amazing job of sharing the hard emotions we all have to face from time to time.
Isabelle writes a painful and emotional story about the darker, negative emotions that go along with life-changing events, and the harsh reality of their new life. Be warned, this is not your normal cheerful, inspiring, heart warming story, this is the reality of Jim and Isabelle's new life, and it isn't always so pretty.
For Geneviève's first story on the site, she talks about the pressure of finishing law school while Jim was in critical condition in hospital. Her drive to succeed despite external pressures came from our parents who inspired her to continue in a way that only a Ryan can understand - by refusing to let her stop because of them.
